A Beautiful Cumbrian Celebration – Anne & Lewis

3 Sep

I have been a fan of fellow northern gal Katie Byram’s photography for a while and it’s a great honour to finally be able to feature one of her beautiful weddings on my blog. Thank you Katie!

Anne & Lewis got married on 28th May 2011 at Kendal Register Office followed by the reception at Langdale Youth Hostel near Grasmere (they hired out the whole thing). The youth hostel is a very beautiful Victorian house with lots of lovely features. The dress came from a vintage shop, the bunting and table decorations were homemade. The bouquet was chosen on the morning of the wedding by just popping into a surprised florists!

The Bride & Groom walked down the aisle together and were also accompanied by their youngest daughter who would not leave her Mum’s side during the service (bless!)

They had musicians (guitar, violin and bass) playing them in and out of the ceremony, who were close family friends.

The reception was very relaxed and child friendly with board games, a bouncy castle and also cosy arm chairs around a roaring log fire. The tables were decorated with pots of daisies.

The groom’s sister was the best ‘man’, and did a wonderful & hilarious speech which included a powerpoint presentation of childhood photographs. This took place in the living room of the hostel with everyone crowded in and many people sat cross legged on the floor like story time!

A perfect family centred wedding. I’d like to send my congratulations to Anne and Lewis, I wish you all the best for your future together.

I love the way that the children were kept central to this wedding – just beautiful!
